Choosing Raised Access Flooring for Data Centers

A data center floor is not only a walking surface. It supports cooling, cable distribution, equipment loads and maintenance access at the same time. Therefore, raised access floor selection has a direct impact on project performance.

1. Load capacity must be calculated correctly

Racks, UPS units, battery systems and cooling equipment can create high concentrated and distributed loads. Panel type, pedestal layout and stringer system should be selected according to these loads.

2. Airflow should be planned

The plenum under the raised floor can be part of the cooling strategy. Perforated panels, cold aisle planning and air leakage control are important for energy efficiency.

3. Cable management should stay clear

Data and power cables should be separated, cable density should be controlled and accessible routes should be planned for future expansion.

4. Antistatic surfaces should be considered

In areas with electronic equipment, antistatic or conductive surface options should be evaluated. This choice is important for both safety and equipment lifetime.
